- Compression joints: a nut and sleeve sized for the tube OD (B151 p.18–19); nylon tube also needs a tubing insert (p.19, e.g. 19268 for 5N25 tube).
- Straight-thread (BSPP, metric, UNF) ports: a copper seal or O-ring sized to the thread (B151 p.20–21, e.g. M8 20913-6, M10 20913-1).
Before You Order
- Standard push-to-connect fittings are not for metal tube or pressures above 290 psi (B151 p.16–17); use compression fittings there.
- Cut nylon tube square and use the tube OD the fitting is marked for; B151 lists inch (1/8 to 3/8 in) and metric (4 to 12 mm) sizes separately (p.16).
- BSPT (R) and NPT are both tapered but have different thread forms; B151 lists separate BSPT and NPT parts and adapters between them (p.9). Confirm which the port is.
- Measure the thread; 1/8 NPT, 1/8 BSPT and 1/8 BSPP look alike and B151 lists separate parts and adapters for each (p.9, e.g. 36465-1 1/8BSPT × 1/8NPT).
- Bijur's small threads are easy to mix up: 5/16-24 (5/32 in or 4 mm tube), 1/4-28, M8x1 (4 mm tube) and M10x1 (6 mm tube) (B151 p.18). Check pitch with a gauge.
- Tube sizes in a name are tube OD: '1/4 Tubing' means 1/4 in OD tube, not 1/4 NPT. Measure the tube OD before choosing nut and sleeve (B151 p.18–19).
Choosing Between Options
- Many B151 fittings exist in brass, steel and stainless with the same threads, e.g. 1/8 in tube × 1/8 NPT straight: brass 27594-1, stainless 35655-1 (B151 p.10).
- Captive-sleeve brass parts (e.g. nuts 35433, 35531, 35434) have the sleeve held in the nut; standard nuts (B1226, B146, B6531) take a loose sleeve (B151 p.18).
- Bag part numbers are quantity packs of the same part: BB1371 = 25 × B1371, BB1061 = 50 × B1061, 34497 = 10 × 15322 (B151 p.18–20).
